Minutes of Council Meeting, February, 2016

 Members Present- David Perez, Nan Stufkosky, Georgene Nightingale, Pastor  Ron, Iris Atkins,

Paul Ford, Dawn Andrews, Bob Lechner, Gabby Gutierrez, Alicia Saenz, Stephanie Rodriguez

 Non Members Present- Laura Ortiz

 President David Perez called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.  Pastor Ron led the prayer.

 The minutes of the February meeting were read and discussed.  The motion to accept the minutes was made by Dawn, seconded by Georgene, approved by all.

 New Council Members- The Council welcomed two new members: Stephanie Rodriguez and Tom Brosche.

 Financial Report- Treasurer Laura Ortiz stated that $9,505 from the Chester Kaho bequest was moved into the appropriate accounts: $7505 into the parking lot re-surfacing and $2,000 to  Narthex improvements.  Council reviewed the report and the motion to accept the report was made by Pastor Ron, seconded by Dawn Andrews, approved by all.

 Election of Officers- The following were nominated and accepted the positions of President: Iris Atkins, Vice-President: Paul Ford.  Bob Lechner and Laura Ortiz agreed to remain in their current positions as Secretary and Treasurer.  The motion to accept these officers was made by Pastor Ron, seconded by Georgene, approved by all.  Outgoing President, David Perez was thanked for his work  did as President.  He will remain on the Council.

 Eagle Scout Project- Noah gave his final report for his Eagle project, the raised garden cross in front of the sanctuary. Pastor Ron signed off on the project and he was heartily thanked for all his time and effort.

 Director of Operations Report- Brett Perkins met with the owners of the Montessori Day Care.  They discussed plans for 40 children.  They would like a negotiating commitment from St Marks to continue planning the facility.  A vote by the congregation was requested by Pastor Ron.  He outlined the steps to establish a congregational meeting, set for March 6th.  The motion to move forward with this plan was made by Paul, seconded by Georgene, approved by all.

 Council Retreat-  A Council retreat was planned for March 5th to discuss a chain of responsibility chart to give to the congregation; and discuss other business items.

 Survey- An informal survey was made asking several Council members to ask the congregation what would be a good fee for cremation remains to be put in to the garden cross.  The agreed fee would be $300.

 Art Class- Dawn Andrews discussed an upcoming art painting class to be held in Jacobson Hall.

 The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 PM.
