The meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by President Iris Atkins. Pastor Ron led with a prayer. The minutes of the April meeting were read and amended. The motion to accept the minutes was made by Paul Ford, seconded by Pastor Ron, approved by all.

Presentation- We welcomed Maureen O’Connor From San Diego Fire and Rescue and Project Heart Beat who demonstrated hands only CPR and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Ms. O’Connor offered additional CPR training to interested church members. We would need to schedule with her, (619) 243-0911. She also mentioned there is a grant assistance program through Project Heart Beat to non-profit organizations, pending available funds. After the presentation was finished the council discussed whether to purchase one or more AEDs. There was a question of whether there may be an insurance rebate available and where the funds would come from. A motion to purchase an AED for the church was made by Pastor Ron, seconded by Georgene Nightingale, and approved by all.

Financial Report- Laura Ortiz was present to explain that, according to Barb Atwood, the funds needed for the Montessori school project could be reflected as either an expense or as an asset because it is a building improvement. The Profit and Loss Previous Year Comparison from January-April, 2016 reflected a $12,066.52 deficit. The lessening cash flow is reflecting payments for the insurance policy and Montessori school project. The motion to accept the financial report was made by Paul Ford, seconded by Tom Brosche, and approved by all.

Pastor Ron- Pastor reported that Sue Connors, Roz Nelson, and himself, went to the Synod Assembly to help elect the new Bishop.

Pastor Ron also reported that Barb Atwood, Iris Atkins, and himself, had met on May 20, 2016, to clean up the balance sheet line items by transferring funds from stagnant designated funds into funds that would better serve the ministries of St. Mark’s.
